Overview
Updating the scanner app and your device software helps you get the latest fixes and improvements, especially for live scanning sessions.
Manually update the scanner app
Use these steps to install the latest version of the scanner app from your device’s app store.
On iPhone or iPad (iOS/iPadOS)
Open the App Store.
Tap your profile icon
at the top of the screen.Scroll to Available Updates
Find the scanner app and tap Update.
On Android (phone or tablet) or Chromebook
Open the Google Play Store app
At the top right, tap the profile icon.
Tap Manage apps & device.
Under Updates available tap See details.
Next to the Marathon Kids scanner app, tap Update.
Note: If you see Open instead of Update, the app is already up to date.
Turn on automatic updates for the scanner app
Turning on automatic updates helps you stay on the latest version of the Scanner App without needing to remember to update it.
On iPhone or iPad (iOS/iPadOS)
Open Settings, then tap Apps.
Tap App Store.
Turn App Updates on
On Android (phone or tablet) or Chromebook
Open the Google Play app
At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
Tap Settings
Network Preferences
Auto-update apps.
Select an option:
Update all apps over Wi-Fi or mobile data
Update with limited amount of mobile data
Update over Wi-Fi only
Keep your device software up to date
Keeping your device on the latest software helps you get the latest performance improvements and fixes that support a smoother scanning experience.
On iPhone or iPad (iOS/iPadOS)
Open the Settings app.
Tap General.
Tap Software Update.
If an update is available, follow the on-screen steps to install it.
On Android (phone or tablet) or Chromebook
Open your device's Settings app.
Tap System
Software updates.
You can find the update status here.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
