Run a virtual program

Set up parent participation, record at-home effort, and celebrate progress in a virtual Marathon Kids club.

For coaches leading a virtual club

A virtual Marathon Kids program helps participants work toward shared goals while moving at home. Plan regular communication with families and a consistent process for recording effort.

Set up your virtual program

  1. Choose Virtual Club if your program is fully virtual. Use Hybrid Club if it combines in-person activity with parent-submitted home miles. See club types.

  2. Add participants using the recruitment tool, a roster upload, or manual entry. Include parent information where appropriate.

  3. Invite parents to create or sign in to their accounts. Adding parent information through an upload or copy and paste does not send invitations automatically. Open Parents, select the parents, and choose Send Invitation. The recruitment process also gives parents an opportunity to create an account after enrolling their child.

  4. Set a club goal and share it with families. Explain what activities to complete, how to report effort, and when you will share progress.

Record effort and review submissions

  1. Encourage participants to complete laps or heart-pumping activities that fit their space and abilities. Use the resource library for games, activities, and lessons.

  2. Have parents submit completed effort through their parent account. Check the parent account status if a family needs help getting connected.

  3. Review and approve parent-submitted miles in Submissions.

  4. If a family cannot submit through an account, agree on how they will report completed effort to you and manually record the laps or activity minutes.

Keep participants connected

Share regular updates on the club goal and individual progress. Use participant dashboards and reports to help families see progress, and celebrate effort and milestones.
