For coaches and club leaders

Use Marathon Kids to organize a before- or after-school club. Choose the schedule, space, and activities that work for your participants, then use Marathon Kids Connect to track progress.

Plan your club

  1. Choose your meeting days, times, and season start and end dates.

  2. Decide which grades or ages will participate and how many participants you can support.

  3. Plan supervision, routes, arrival and dismissal procedures, and any participant needs using your organization’s requirements.

  4. Set an achievable club mileage goal and help participants choose personal goals.

Prepare in Marathon Kids Connect

  1. Add participants using online recruitment, manual entry, or a roster upload.

  2. Customize your tracks and activities to match your space and planned sessions.

  3. Invite Supporters and choose the permissions each person needs to help manage the club or scan ID cards.

  4. Prepare the Marathon Kids Connect Scanner app on the devices you will use.

Try this session plan

  1. Start with a warm-up.

  2. Introduce a topic from the before- and after-school lessons.

  3. Give participants time to run, walk, or move in a way that works for them. You can also use heart-pumping games and activities.

  4. Finish with a cool-down.

  5. Share progress toward individual and club goals, and celebrate effort.

Frequently asked questions

Can parents submit miles completed at home?

Parents can follow progress in all club types. Home-mile submissions are available for Hybrid and Virtual clubs and require club approval. In-Person clubs do not accept parent-submitted home miles.

Do we have to use the same session plan every time?

No. Use the sample as a starting point and adapt the activities and timing to your club.
