Thanks to the DICK’s Sporting Goods Foundation and the Brooks Running Empower Her Collection, we are excited to provide a grant-funded Coach Empowerment Kit for schools that qualify, which includes a coach stipend.

The Girls Movement program is always free for schools and community organizations across the US.

Regardless if your school qualifies, get started today with free resources and lessons!

If you plan to lead an all-girls program:

  • Check the "Apply for The Girls Movement Grant Opportunity" when you create your new club/season

  • Or if your club is already set up, go to the Club Details page to check the grant box.

When the box is checked, this notifies the Marathon Kids team.

We will follow up with links to the curriculum and evaluate each program to see if it qualifies for a coach empowerment kit.

Note: You can lead multiple programs under one club.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I lead a co-ed Marathon Kids and a Girls Movement program within the same club?

Yes, you can! It's simple.

  • Create a new track and/or activity in your account to record the effort during your program.

  • Make sure your end date extends to include all of your programs.

  • You may need to adjust your Club Mileage Goal for either more participants or extended weeks of participation.

By doing so, this allows you to do a few key things for a specific program:

  • Manually add miles

  • Filter your dashboard

  • Pull a report

Example:

Name - PE Track

Description - 4 laps to a mile

Lap distance - .25

Name - Girls Track

Description - 4 laps to a mile

Lap distance - .25

What are some ways coaches are implementing The Girls Movement program?

A few examples of implementation:

  • An all-girls' club; before, during, or after school (any combination or single grade 4th-8th)

  • An all-girls PE class works for 6th-8th-grade schools that split their classes.

  • Co-ed 4th -8th grade PE class where you can split the girls and boys on participation days, with both participating; boys doing Marathon Kids and girls doing The Girls Movement.

Is there a required number of girls for each club?

Each program can determine the number of participants allowed to participate.
