Another key pillar of the Marathon Kids program is Social Support.

Social Support plays a role in the success of your club;

  • Peers offer camaraderie and competition

  • Coaches provide personalized guidance and goal-setting

  • Adults contribute through role modeling and a supportive environment.

The Behavior Cognitive Theory states we learn by observing others. Within your run club season, participants need to watch as their teammates are acknowledged for reaching mileage milestones and receiving recognition. As well as hear and see reminders of the club's goals. These observations help layer reminders and strengthen their belief that they too can achieve success and play a role in helping the team succeed.

Incorporating internal and external motivation, along with healthy habit adoption, fosters confidence, well-being, and self-efficacy among participants, creating a holistic framework for a positive running experience.
