Two of the Marathon Kids pillars of the program are Celebrating and Rewarding.

Celebrating

Big cheers and high-fives go a long way to reinforce long-term behavior adoption.

Kids enjoy positive recognition. Layering simple, encouraging celebrations develop their

intrinsic motivation and makes them feel a part of something bigger.

  • Create a fun, positive environment for your participants.

  • Share achievements at every opportunity.

    • Celebrations continue to remind participants that they are working as a team to reach the club’s goal.

      • Use your Impact Dashboard to provide overall club updates.

        • “We have made it halfway to our goal! All together we’ve conquered ____ miles.”

      • Create Challenges using the date range feature to keep motivation high!

      • Track and manage participant's milestone achievements using the Reward Table.

  • Utilize announcements, assemblies, emails and newsletters, in-class recognition, etc.

  • Give shout-outs and high-fives to make participants feel acknowledged and encouraged.

  • Build community and celebrate all milestones. Check out this resource to help you make your data visual.

    • Create a visual spot to share data on the club's performance

    • Highlight that every participant contributes to their individual mileage, class, and grade level mileage as well as the club total miles.

Project your dashboard to give shoutouts and updates.

Create a bulletin board to celebrate achievements.

Utilize assemblies and PA announcements to recognize milestones.

Rewarding

Kids love being recognized which supports the creation and foundation of new habits. Consistent positive recognition fuels kids to keep striving for their next milestone.

Remember to reward not only individual effort but class, grade level and the

entire club efforts.

  • Keep it simple.

  • Certificates and verbal recognition go a long way.

  • Review the Achievement Report to know who's reached a mileage milestone.

    • Utilize our stickers to use their ID card as a medal of achievement.

  • Use the Reward Table to provide a structured way to recognize and celebrate participants' accomplishments keeping them motivated and engaged

  • Feel free to be creative! You are not limited to what Marathon Kids offers to reward and celebrate your club's success along with your participants!
